DataReportal's Digital 2026 report counts 79.9 million social media user identities in Pakistan, equal to 31.2% of a population of 256 million. That is the audience every social media management proposal in the country is implicitly promising to reach.

The proposals themselves range from about PKR 15,000 a month to well over PKR 300,000. That is a twentyfold spread for something described with the same four words, and it is the single most confusing thing about buying marketing in Pakistan.

Here is the part most agencies will not say out loud: both ends of that range can be entirely honest. They are not the same service sold at different prices. They are different services that happen to share a name.

What does social media management cost in Pakistan in 2026?

Basic page management in Pakistan starts around PKR 15,000 a month. Single-channel work handled properly generally starts nearer PKR 30,000. Full-service retainers that include strategy, production, paid distribution and reporting typically run from PKR 150,000 to PKR 500,000 a month depending on the number of channels and the volume of original content.

Those are real market bands, not a sales ladder. Where a business sits on them should be decided by what it needs produced, not by what it can bear to spend.

What do you actually get at PKR 15,000 a month?

You get someone posting. Typically that means a fixed number of graphics a month, captions written around them, scheduled to one or two channels, plus replies to comments and messages during working hours. It is a real job and there are people in Pakistan who do it well at that price.

What it does not include is anyone deciding what the posts should be about. The brief comes from you. If you do not supply one, the output becomes generic templated graphics, because that is the only thing possible without direction. This is why so many Pakistani SME pages look identical.

For a business that already knows its message and simply needs consistent output, this is a rational purchase. For a business that does not, it buys activity rather than progress.

What changes between PKR 30,000 and PKR 150,000?

Original content. Below that band, almost everything is stock imagery and templated design. Above it, someone is shooting, editing and writing material that only your business could have published.

That distinction matters far more in Pakistan than most owners expect, because the platforms that actually reach people here reward original video. DataReportal puts YouTube's advertising reach at 54.3 million people and Instagram's at 22.4 million, while TikTok reports 79.9 million users aged eighteen and over, equal to 54.6% of the adult population. None of those audiences respond to a recycled quote card.

The other change in this band is that someone becomes accountable for a number. At the bottom of the market, the deliverable is posts. In the middle, the deliverable starts to be enquiries, and the reporting changes to match.

Why is the top of the market so much more expensive?

Because paid distribution and production get added, and both cost money before they return any. A retainer above PKR 150,000 normally covers a content team, a media budget managed separately, landing pages, and someone senior thinking about the offer rather than the posts.

It is worth being precise about what the retainer is and is not. Agency fees and advertising spend are separate lines. A business quoting PKR 200,000 a month that includes the ad budget inside that figure is buying considerably less management than it thinks.

How should a business decide which band it belongs in?

Work backwards from the value of one customer. If an average client is worth PKR 40,000 and you close one in five enquiries, a PKR 30,000 retainer needs roughly four enquiries a month to break even. If an average client is worth PKR 400,000, the arithmetic tolerates a far larger retainer and a much longer ramp.

Most businesses skip this and compare quotes against each other instead. Comparing two proposals tells you which is cheaper. It tells you nothing about whether either can pay for itself, which is the only question that matters.

What should be in the proposal before you sign anything?

A specific number of original assets per month, named channels, who writes and who approves, the reporting cadence, what happens to the accounts and the content if the engagement ends, and whether advertising spend sits inside or outside the fee.

The last two catch people out repeatedly in Pakistan. Businesses regularly discover at the end of an engagement that the agency holds the Business Manager, the ad account and the original files. Ownership should be written down at the start, not negotiated at the exit. We set out our position on this on the what you own page, because it is the question clients most often wish they had asked earlier.

How long before social media management shows a return?

For organic work, expect three to six months before the pattern is readable, and longer if the account is starting from nothing. Paid distribution moves faster, often within weeks, but it stops the day the budget stops. The two are frequently confused, and the confusion is expensive.

The honest framing is that organic social builds an asset and paid social rents an audience. A business that only ever rents has to keep paying to stay visible. A business that only ever builds waits a long time for the first enquiry. Most Pakistani SMEs that get this right do a little of both from the start, with the paid budget used to find out which organic ideas are worth repeating.

Be wary of any proposal that promises a specific number of followers by a specific date. Follower count is the easiest metric in the industry to inflate and the least connected to revenue. A proposal that commits to enquiries, or at minimum to saved and shared posts, is describing something harder to fake.

What about production in Urdu, English or both?

This gets decided too casually. English-first content reaches a narrower, generally higher-income urban audience. Urdu and mixed Urdu-English content reaches considerably further, particularly outside Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, and on video platforms it usually outperforms English by a wide margin.

The right answer depends on who buys from you, not on what feels more professional. A business selling to corporate procurement teams is right to stay in English. A business selling to consumers that defaults to English because it looks smarter is quietly paying for reach it then declines to use. Agencies at the lower price bands rarely raise this, because producing in two languages costs more than producing in one.

Does cheap social media management damage a business?

Rarely in itself. The damage is the year spent believing marketing was being handled, while the underlying problem, which is usually an unclear offer or a website that does not convert, went untouched.

That is the pattern worth watching for. Social posting is highly visible, which makes it feel like progress. If enquiries have not moved after six months of consistent posting, the constraint is almost never the posting frequency. It is more often the destination those posts send people to, which is why website design and development tends to produce a faster return than adding a third channel.

Where search fits alongside social in Pakistan

Social reaches people while they are scrolling. Search reaches them while they are deciding. In Pakistan the second group is smaller but converts at a far higher rate, because someone typing a service and a city into Google has already worked out what they want.

Most Pakistani businesses are competing hard for the first group and ignoring the second entirely, which is why search results for high-value local services are often thin. A business willing to invest in search engine optimisation alongside social frequently finds the search side cheaper per enquiry, even though it takes longer to start working.

That combination, social for reach and search for intent, is the shape we recommend for most businesses looking at a digital marketing agency in Pakistan. It is also the reason we quote after a conversation rather than publishing a package grid. The right number genuinely depends on what a customer is worth to you, and no price list can know that.

The honest summary

PKR 15,000 buys posting. PKR 30,000 buys posting with some thought behind it. PKR 150,000 and above buys original production, paid distribution and accountability for results. Every one of those is a legitimate purchase for the right business, and every one is a waste for the wrong one.

The mistake is not choosing the cheap option. The mistake is choosing the cheap option while expecting what the expensive one delivers, then concluding after a year that marketing does not work in Pakistan. The same reasoning runs through our longer guide to digital marketing for accounting firms, written for a different market but built on the same rule: the scope of work, not the headline fee, decides whether the spend returns anything.

FAQs

How much does social media management cost per month in Pakistan?

Basic page management starts around PKR 15,000 a month. Single-channel work handled properly generally starts nearer PKR 30,000. Full-service retainers covering strategy, original production, paid distribution and reporting typically run from PKR 150,000 to PKR 500,000 a month, depending on channel count and content volume.

Is PKR 15,000 a month enough for social media in Pakistan?

It is enough to keep pages active and answer messages, and there are capable people working at that price. What it does not include is anyone deciding what to post about, so the brief has to come from you. Without one, the output defaults to templated graphics that look like every other page.

Does the retainer include advertising spend?

It should not, and you should confirm this in writing. Agency fees and media budget are separate lines. A quote that folds the advertising spend into the monthly fee is delivering considerably less management than the headline number suggests, because a large part of it is being paid straight to the platform.

How do I know which price band my business needs?

Work backwards from what one customer is worth and how many enquiries you convert. If a client is worth PKR 40,000 and you close one in five, a PKR 30,000 retainer needs about four enquiries a month to break even. Comparing two quotes against each other answers a different and less useful question.

Who owns the accounts and content when the engagement ends?

Whoever the contract says, which is why it needs to be written down before work starts. Businesses in Pakistan regularly find that the agency holds the Business Manager, the advertising account and the original files. Agreeing ownership at the start avoids negotiating it at the worst possible moment.

Should a Pakistani business do social media or search first?

Both do different jobs. Social reaches people while they scroll, search reaches them while they decide. Search usually converts at a higher rate because intent is already present, and competition in Pakistani search results is often thinner, though it takes longer to produce results than paid social.
